Pro tip: Soldering irons are hot.
On the plus side, despite the blister, I did manage to solder in a new motor to replace the broken one in my daughter’s F-150 ride-on. Working on a full write up to post later in the week.

Done this a few times. I was creating a faux prototype on friday night for a project I’m working on, and I’m honestly amazed that I didn’t burn my hand at all. I was up until like 2:30am soldering and on barely any sleep. Forgot how a button integrated into a stupid simple circuit, felt really stupid and had to call it a night after that one....there’s definitely a point when I’m too tired to deal with something as hot as a soldering iron (or power tools, kitchen appliances, etc).
While some people have made fun of me for it, and they’re not the easiest thing to work in, mechanix gloves are fantastic at putting something between your hand and whatever you’re working on. I can’t remember where my last set of gloves went (I’ve destroyed like 3 pairs already), but it sure beats what would have happened to my hands if I didn’t have them.

Yesterday I cut my finger with a drill bit. I was ziptie stitching a plastic windshield together, I was holding it, and when the drill went through, the bit hit my finger. I didn’t notice it was bleeding and got blood all over everything, yay!.

Yeah it was really too late for me to have been working on this tonight.
For the most part I wear mechanix or lizard skin gloves when wrenching and they’ve saved my from countless pinches, cuts, and burns - but I’m pretty bad at soldering to start with and with gloves on it just doesn’t work at all.

I've done the not realize I'm bleeding until I've made a giant mess thing a few times. Cleaning it up is the worst.

Burning and cutting yourself is okay as long as you can still count to ten the simple way you’re winning, lol.

Soldering iron blisters, blue nails from squishing your fingers under the car tyres, beat to shit hands from slipping your hands of wrenches or bolts suddenly giving way to your MANLY musclepower and making you squish your hands. It’s all part of the DIY game 8-)
The worst i find to be metal splinters, or handling something fine but sharp so you get a bunch of small cuts across your fingers, that’s annoying...

That’s how soldering always ends up for me too.

Oh god metal splinters are the worst! I always seem to get one during the three minutes I took a glove off to to that one last hard-to-reach screw.
